Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the present study, we aimed to uncover the importance of Hedgehog-related transcription factor GLI1 in synovial sarcoma, one of the highly malignant soft tissue tumors. We found that GLI1 accelerates cellular proliferation, migration, and invasion through newly identified transcriptional target gene CXCR4. In mouse lung metastasis model, GLI1 enhanced lung metastasis of synovial sarcoma cells. We also tried to identify diagnostic marker for synovial sarcoma, based on the information of potential transcriptional target genes identified from cDNA microarray analyses performed using GLI1 or SYT-SSX1 fusion gene transfected normal mesenchymal cells. However, no specific immunohistochemcal marker was found.
