Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We assessed the effectiveness of a gradual increase in volume of heart murmur for understanding cardiac auscultatory findings. About half of the students reported that auscultatory findings became clearer, while about 40 percent of the students reported that auscultatory findings did not change despite the gradual increase in volume of the heart murmur. The remaining approximately 10 percent of the students reported that auscultatory findings became rather difficult. We suggest that there is a need to consider the output of the heart murmur through a stethoscope or earphone and increase speed, so that medical students can better understand cardiac auscultation.
