Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Patient-oriented cancer care requires comprehensive cancer care including oncologists and family doctors, though it sometimes is not satisfied. To determine the expectation toward general doctors in comprehensive cancer care, we performed semi-structured group interview and analyzing for junior doctors and oncology specialists. Junior doctors much focus on symptom management rather than cancer special care in ER situation and feel difficulty in palliative care management. Oncologists show more interest in social aspects and management issues in individual cases with some struggle in management system of their hospital. Therefore, education for palliative care and social management are indispensable for future junior doctor education program. Well-organized, supportive management for cancer care driven by hospital would also contribute for comprehensive cancer care so that oncologists can use their resources for both education and clinical work.
