Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have shown conclusively that a valved shunt placed at an appropriate time to bypass a bladder outlet obstruction results in prevention of ongoing renal damage, improvement in lung volume and improved bladder function at birth. We have developed a prototype valved shunt that is almost ready for use in human fetuses. This study is designed to test whether the equipment that has been developed to deliver this shunt into the bladder.
