Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Using the mouse myocardial ischemia-reperfusion model, our results show that, volatile anesthetic-induced cardiac protection is dependent on an anti-aging gene, sirtuin, and a membrane microdomain, caveolin. Additionally, our results suggest that caveolin within the heart are critical for sirtuin-induced cardiac protection via volatile anesthetics.
