Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims at establishment of condition to induce tongue muscle from non-muscle cells especially thorough epigenetic approaches. We tried to induce tongue muscle cells from iPS cells. However, we could not find efficient condition for the induction of tongue muscle. We then investigated epigenetic regulation of embryonic tongue formation in vivo. We found that expression of a histone H3K9 methyltransferase gene, G9a, is required for proper tongue formation.
