Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A Mediterranean diet has been associated with lower risk of various age-related diseases including dementia. We investigated the association between cognitive function and a Mediterranean Japanese diet using perilla oil. After 24 months of intervention, there is no differentiation in cognitive function tests between Mediterranean Japanese diet group and control group. And also there is no differentiation in erythrocyte plasma membrane levels in two groups. We observed no beneficial effects of a Mediterranean Japanese diet with perilla oil for 24 months on cognitive function in elderly people.
