Outline of Annual Research Achievements

一般廃棄物焼却飛灰や石炭灰を対象に、粒子表面の形状や鉱物学的特性について分析した。前年までと同様に、一般廃棄物焼却飛灰粒子の内部特性について分析し、ケイ素を主体とする複雑な構造を持つコア骨格、その周りを覆うアルミニウム/カルシウム/ケイ素主体の難溶解性マトリクス、塩化ナトリウム/塩化カリウムを主体とする表面層についてもそれぞれ分析を進めた。粒子内部の特性が層ごとに異なるだけでなく、一般廃棄物焼却飛灰では焼却炉の形式によってケイ素主体コア骨格の構造形状が著しく異なることを見出した。鉱物誘導技術を開発するにあたり、並行して焼却飛灰の不均一性を評価する必要性が分かったことから、研究内容を追加することとした。飛灰粒子の各層における元素分布を精力的に測定し、粒子内および粒子間の主要元素の相関性を分析した。焼却飛灰は粒子内で不均一性を持つ粒子と比較的不均一性が少ない粒子があり、粒子間においても特定の主要元素濃度が高い、もしくは低い粒子が存在し、粒子間の不均一性も大きいことを見出した。重金属の鉱物学的不溶化を施す際、飛灰粒子の元素構成によっては狙った二次鉱物生成が促進されず、不溶化効果を低減させる可能性がある。条件が異なる二次鉱物生成処理を2段階か3段階実施することで、不均一性の問題は克服できると推察された。
鉱物誘導技術の開発では、pH条件の変化、ケイ素系やアルミニウム系の各種添加剤、水熱処理などを検討した。粒子によって二次鉱物の生成結果が異なり、上記の不均一性に起因していると考えられる。最適な条件や添加剤の決定には至っていないが、有望な添加剤等のスクリーニングは順調に進んだ。
