Outline of Annual Research Achievements

最終年度にあたり、研究代表者（池田）は、本研究テーマのこれまでの方法論について精査し、さまざまな角度から検討した。とりわけ、当初方法論にある（i）動物―（ii）動物学者―（iii）人類学者による、三者関係と、それらの立場から視座の可能性について考えた。これまでの調査では、生きている動物とその死骸遺物の間に研究者は大きな峻別を行わないことが明らかになったので、（i-a）現存動物の概念範疇を拡大し、（i-b）想像上の動物や、かつて存在した化石恐竜などの（i-c）現存しない動物、という範疇で、動物学者の範疇を聖書学等の古典学者やＳＦ作家や、古生物学者や考古学者などに拡張し、主に文献や博物館調査などを通してその言説分析をおこなった。また「動物としての人間」という関係から人間の嬰児殺しと老人虐待について進化生物学の成果を利用しながら研究論文を報告した。あわせて（動物学者を含む）人間と犬の関係についての共進化学説の可能性について検討した。研究分担者の大舘は、小型哺乳類であるトガリネズミ類の国際的集会に招待講演者として登壇し講演をおこなった。その際に、トガリネズミ類に関するさまざまな文化圏に属する研究者と意見交換して、現地の宗教や民話あるいは、殺傷をともなうサンプリングに関する生命倫理規範の文化相対性について意見を聴取している。また同じく研究分担者の田所は、これまでに収集した映像資料と文献資料データの整理と執筆をおこなった。その成果は書評論文として成果報告している。総じて、それぞれの研究者は個別のテーマをもち、動物と（生物医学者を含む広義の）動物学者の関係について考察を深めた。研究代表者は相互の研究者と連絡をとりながら最終的な報告にむけての調整をしている。
