Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, we have stronger societal demand for more effective disaster risk communication between disaster experts and non-experts. This study examined the possibility to make use ofseismological observatory, Abuyama Seismological Observatory, Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University, as earthquake science museum, where non-experts communicate with experts more fully than before. We developed training curriculum for non-experts to work as a voluntary museum staff. Next, we developed guidance procedure where visitors learn seismology and disaster science from volunteer staff as mediating communicator bridging experts and non-experts.
