Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project focused on the case of Peru to search for the causes of social conflicts recently increasing in the post-neoliberal Latin America, as well as to make reflections about the preventive and ending processes for them. Our analysis indicates that the outbreak of social conflicts depends on whether on zone has the experience of having developed the natural resources in the past. In these regions, there exist formal and/or informal mechanisms to promote the dialogues and understandings between mining companies and the local people. On the other side, the success of these mechanisms depends on whether the State offers the minimum support.
