Outline of Annual Research Achievements

グローバル化に対抗する社会運動や市民社会組織は、新自由主義的秩序に代わる「もう一つの世界」を追求しているが、それはどのようなものなのか、実現可能なものなのかを探求した。平成26年度は、グローバリゼーション、民主主義、社会運動、労働運動、開発学、市民社会研究の専門家を海外から22名招聘し、7月に国際会議を開催して、国際的な研究協力体制を築いた。具体的な実績概要は以下の通りである。
1)世界的に著名な研究者が集う機会を、東京大学の大学院生が十分に生かして、将来の学術研究に活用できるようにするため、夏学期に特別授業を行った。海外招聘研究者の主要な著作を読み、英語で議論をし、また学術会議で討論者の役割を果たせるように訓練を行った。
2)7月10日に元アメリカ社会学会会長、現国際社会学会会長であるMichael Burawoy教授(カリフォルニア大学バークレー校)を駒場キャンパスに招き、講演会、学生との集い、レセプションを実施した。
3)7月20―22日に東京大学本郷キャンパス伊藤国際学術研究センターで、7月23―25日に京都大学地域研究統合情報センターにて、21名の海外招聘研究者を中心に、国際学術会議を開催した。3名の基調講演者によるシンポジウムと、19名の研究者によるワークショップ形式の発表を実施した。
4)11月11-21日に、Edwin Amenta教授(カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校)による集中講義「Research on the Consequences of Social Movements」を東京大学駒場キャンパスにて開催した。
5)3月13-15日にブラウン大学Watson Instituteで開催された開発社会学会議に参加・発表し、この共同研究活動をアメリカにて継続した。また、6)学術雑誌Mobilizationに成果を発表するために、国際共同研究を継続した。

Reason

日本での国際共同研究活動はもちろんのこと、アメリカにおける活動も初年度に行うことができたため。また、成果を発表をする活動も順調に進んでいるため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

共同研究の成果を学術雑誌に発表をする。
また、今後も同様な学術会議(シンポジウム・ワークショップなど)を、大学院生も交えながら開催し、一層の研究促進を図る。
平成26年度はアメリカからの研修者の参加が多かったが、今後はヨーロッパやラテンアメリカなど、これまで交流の薄かった地域の研究者との共同研究の強化に努めたい。

Causes of Carryover

2014年7月に横浜で開催された国際社会学学会に参加する研究者を中心に招聘したため、招聘に必要な経費、とくに航空運賃を負担せずに招聘することが可能になり、当初の予定よりは招聘のための旅費を節約できたため。

今年度に東京大学で実施予定のワークショップに海外から研究者を招聘する費用として用いる計画である。
