強誘電結晶ナノ光導波路形成とナノ集積非線形量子フォトニックデバイス実現の研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、強誘電体結晶ナノ光導波路形成と非線形量子フォトニックデバイスの実現に関する実験的研究である。昨年度はナノ薄膜結晶導波路の形成および薄膜結晶内擬似位相整合(QPM)構造の形成などの成果を得たが、本年度はナノ非線形光学デバイス実現を目指した研究を行い、以下の成果を得た。
1.チャネル導波路形成: イオンスライス薄膜結晶導波路(薄膜LiNbO3/SiO2/Au/ LiNbO3構造)を微細加工してチャネル導波路を形成する技術を確立した。電子ビーム描画Crマスクを用いるプロトン交換増速化学エッチングを適用し、断面積0.7×1.0μm2、長さ6mmで約8 W-1/2 cm-1と従前の導波路より約1桁大きな非線形光学結合係数を持つリッジ型強閉込め導波路の作製に成功し、理論予測に近い光閉込めと損失6dB/cmの良好な導波特性を得た。
2.周期分極反転QPM構造の非破壊観察: QPM構造の走査型電子顕微鏡による非破壊観察、およびエリア限定マイクロ化学エッチングによる局所観察の手法を確立した。
3.ナノ導波路QPM非線形光学波長変換デバイス:イオンスライス薄膜結晶導波路上に電子ビーム描画形成した櫛型電極を通じて電荷量自動制御電圧パルスを印加して分極反転するQPM構造形成法を確立した。周期3.5μmのQPM構造を形成した後にリッジ型導波路を形成してナノ導波路QPM非線形光学波長変換デバイスを作製した。
4.新結晶の分極反転構造・導波路形成: 高光損傷耐性結晶として最近開発されたMgO(8mol%):c-LiTaO3において、一様なQPM構造の形成、アニールプロトン交換導波路の作製、偏波変換型電気光学変調器、導波型光第2高調波発生デバイス、紫外和周波発生デバイスへの応用などの成果を得た。また紫外光透過特性に優れた新強誘電体結晶LaBGeO5におけるQPM構造形成の初期的成果を得た。
