Outline of Annual Research Achievements

最終年度である平成29年度は、昨年度までに観察を行った試料以外にも視点を広げて、マントルと接して流体などが共通して通過するはずの海洋下部地殻も対象とし、マントル中の有機化合物存在可能性について検討した。具体的にはかんらん岩捕獲岩に加えて、海洋リソスフェア物質と考えられるオフィオライトの斑れい岩試料、かんらん岩試料および蛇紋岩等の変成岩についても観察を行った。
オマーン・オフィオライト陸上掘削試料を用いて、炭酸塩岩化されたリズベナイトと呼ばれる試料の観察、空隙率・密度および熱伝導率などの岩石物性計測とともにマイクロX線CT画像スキャンを実施し、炭酸塩流体の移動と起源に関する検討を行い、記載・計測結果については国際学会でポスター発表を行った。
さらに、前年度までに採取・入手したかんらん岩試料のマイクロX線CT画像スキャンおよびその解析を引き続き行った。前年度までに使用したマイクロX線CT装置では、十分な解像度を得られず有機物の所在を特定することが出来なかったため、より高精度のマイクロＸ線ＣＴ装置を用いたスキャンを実施した。その結果、有機化合物の存在可能性の高い包有物について3次元構造を得ることが出来た。その画像に基づきFIB-SEMによる観察を行い、包有物中に炭化物の存在は検出できたが、高分子化合物の検出には至っていない。
マントルかんらん岩捕獲岩試料については、昨年度に引き続き、海底火山の一つであるプチスポット火山の玄武岩に包有されている試料について岩石学的記載を引き続き行い、その結果を国際誌に投稿誌、掲載された。このマントル捕獲岩については、その母岩であるアルカリ玄武岩も含めた空隙率や密度など岩石物性に関する研究結果を纏め、国内研究集会にて招待講演を行った。現在論文投稿準備中である。
