Outline of Final Research Achievements |
According to delay discount model, immediate reward (t=0) and sure reward (p=1) are not discounted. We investigate both overlapping and distinct neural mechanism involved in decision making. Main result are as follows. (1) The reward processing for immediate and sure reward is not always same neural mechanism. But neural mechanism for evaluating certainty reward partially overlapped with immediate one. (2) As some research point out, many areas of the default network (PCC, mPFC, parahippocampal cortex) have also been found to be active in tasks involving intertemporal choice. (3) Part of parietal cortex (BA40, particularly left) plays a crucial role in decision making.
