| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
平成28年度は，平成27年度までの研究に引き続き、中古生代の隕石衝突履歴を解読するために、ペルム紀後期からジュラ紀前期（約1.7～2.5億年前）層状チャートを構成する粘土岩試料の化学分析を中心に研究を行った。また隕石衝突の可能性が疑われた岐阜県の粘土岩試料については，追加で試料を中心に採取した。
チャートを対象としたイジェクタ層の探索では、超微量な白金族元素やオスミウムの同位体を扱うため，いかに風化・変質部を採取試料から取り除くかが研究成果の質を大きく左右する。そのため採取した試料は、洗浄、乾燥後にメノウ乳鉢で5 mm以下に細かく砕き、風化・変質部を徹底的に取り除いた。その後メノウ製容器の遊星回転ボールミルを用いて粉末試料を作成した。これまでの研究で作成した粉末試料については、まず最初にバインダーと混合後プレス機でペレットを作成し、これを蛍光X線分析装置を用いて化学組成の分析を行なった。同時に粉末試料から定方位試料を作成し、X線回折装置を用いて構成鉱物の同定も行った。これらの装置を用いた分析により、現在までにペルム紀と三畳紀の２層準からイジェクタ層の候補を見出した。これらイジェクタ層候補については，ICP-MS分析により微量元素の定量分析を行い、ニッケルやコバルト、いくつかの親銅元素の濃集を見出している。このような傾向は、これまで隕石衝突の記録が発見されている三畳紀後期ノーリアンと同様のものであり、現在白金族およびオスミウム同位体分析を行い、イジェクタ層の確実な同定を進めている。
