Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research I investigated several management documents preserved in the archives at Florence, in the United States and even in Japan to make clear an economic relationship between the Florentine textile industries and the Ottoman Empire. As a result I clarified with concrete data the distribution of red dyes imported from the east and the west of the Mediterranean including the Ottoman Empire, the relationship between firms at Florence and agents in the Empire, and the Ottoman trade conducted by the Medici and the Venturi family involved in the wool industry.
