Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between the efficiency of wholesalers and the number of small-scaled retail stores by model analysis and data analysis. As a result of the model analysis, it is mainly found that when the wholesalers' scale expanded and the wholesalers' margin is low, the density of small store become higher. These results of model analysis about wholesalers and retail stores are broadly consistent with data analysis by using Europe country level census data, prefectural level and city level census data of Japan. The results of the models suggest that wholesalers would be co-existence with not only many small-scale retail stores, but also with large scale retail store.
