The present study aimed to elucidate the structure of medical and social welfare needs of older requiring care who resident in hilly and mountainous areas, and to investigate related factors. An interview survey conducted with 12 older and 12 specialists providing community-based support. Questionnaire was conducted on older, and responses were obtained from 196 individuals. Based on the results of factor analysis, the following five factors were identified as the medical and social welfare needs of elderly requiring care who resident in hilly and mountainous areas: “changes in roles”; “living environment”; “costs of recuperation”; “information access”; and “lack of social resources”. Multiple regression analysis was performed using “medical and social welfare needs” as the independent variable and the LSIK as the dependent variable.
