Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research project developed educational methodologies and evaluation systems to promote university students' abilities to participate in productive dialogues with those from different backgrounds. I have termed this type of dialogue "co-creative boundary crossing". I examined the psychological theories of L. S. Vygotsky and the dialogical theories of M. M. Bakhtin, which have frequently been cited by educational researchers aiming to promote interactions between students in classrooms. I developed educational methodologies for university classes, including large-scale lectures with about 100 students. These methodologies can help students to improve their capacity for co-creative boundary crossing. Finally, I developed evaluation systems to assess the co-creative boundary crossing abilities of students, utilizing theoretical and practical research outcomes.
