Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research investigates how “21st Century Skills” are defined and how it is constructed in three provinces in Canada. Firstly, it contains attitudes focusing on personal growth and well-being as well as other skills and attitudes such as communication and thinking skills. Secondly, “21st Century Skills”, it is called “competencies” in British Columbia, “core competencies” in Alberta, and “21st century competencies” in Ontario, is combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes which apply within and across all subjects. Thirdly, on the process of identifying and defining “21st Century Skills”, each province had opportunities to have dialogue with not only with teachers and educational administrators, but also citizens with various cultural and societal background.
