Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Patellogastropod limpets including Lottia luchuana, Eoacmaea sp. limited to only calcareous substrata, Cellana grata, Lottia kogamogai, Lottia tenuisculpta, Lottia lindbergi inhabiting sediment rocks, and Cellana toreuma living on any substrata were genetically analyzed to clarify their phylogenetic relationships and historical biogeography. As a results of this study, Cellana toreuma has a wide geographic distribution, whereas Eoacmaea sp. limited to calcareous substrata shows a wide geographic variation. Habitats specificity could strongly affect to the speciation of marine organisms.
