Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During the funding period, we have been investigating the productive merger between visible photoredox catalysis and copper catalysis to mediate challenging C-N bond formation processes. We have demonstrated that the cross-coupling reaction between arylboronic acids and aniline derivatives could be performed under mild reaction conditions with broad substrate scope by introducing a photocatalyst under visible light irradiation in air. We have also found that by using a similar catalytic system, we could efficiently form C-N bonds between carbazoles with aryl iodides. However, it was found that this particular transformation was limited only to carbazoles, and the use of other types of amine-based nucleophiles led to poor results.
