Outline of Final Research Achievements

When cementless stems are implanted into femurs, adequate fixation depends on the surgeon's experienc in total hip arthroplasty. As such, an objective method of determining whether or not the stem has been correctly inserted may aid clinicians in decision.
Here, we examined the relationship between the sound frequency caused by hammering the stem during implantation and the internal stress in artificial femurs and evaluated the utility of sound frequency analysis to prevent intraoperative fracture.
