Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To identify novel malaria vaccine candidates, I used 1900 Plasmodium falciparum proteins prepared using wheat germ cell-free system. Using the proteins, I measured the immunoreactivity of Malian adult IgG samples. Antibody reactivities against 3 proteins were positively correlated with growth inhibitory activity against in vitro cultured P.falciparum. Immunoreactivity of LSA3 has the highest correlation coefficient. Anti LSA3 specific antibody purified from Malian adult IgGs showed growth inhibitory activity against P.falciparum. The results suggest that LSA3 is a blood-stage malaria vaccine candidate.
