Outline of Final Research Achievements |
When tumor cells are treated with the opioid analgesics morphine and fentanyl, high concentrations morphine and fentanyl inhibit tumor proliferation. However, in some cases medium to high concentration morphine showed proliferation promoting action. This results are thought that the effect on cell division, the effect on cell death, the influence on cell adhesion, etc. are combined and contributed to the survival rate of tumor cells. It may also be related to the difference in the effect on cell proliferation that the change in the expression level of opioid receptor after opioid administration is different between morphine and fentanyl.
