Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Diabetic macular edema is well-known ocular complication and the leading cause of poor visual impairment in diabetes. Diabetic macular edema beaks down the blood-retinal barrier, leading to fluid leakage from abnormal retinal capillaries. This study investigates that ROCK plays a significant role for barrier functions of vascular permeability. ROCK inhibitor recovered diabetes-induced barrier disruption and vascular hyperpermeability. These data indicates ROCK inhibitor has the ameliorating effect on diabetes-induced macular edema via blockade of vascular permeability.
