Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To investigate the primary dental plaque formation, we constructed the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) method that could observe the non-destructive plaque and classified the bacteria on hydroxyapatite disk. As a result, we discovered that some bacteria made the small colonies of mountain-like formation in early dental plaque and time passed, become fused the colonies made large dental plaque. Next, we mixed the certain bacteria and made similar colonies in vitro. We found that Neisseria genus and Actinomyces genus were essential for aggregation of bacteria and making the similar mountain-like colonies.
