Outline of Final Research Achievements

We aimed to evaluate changes in cardiac autonomic nervous activity during autologous blood donation for decreasing the risk of vasovagal reaction.
Preoperative patients who were scheduled for autologous blood donation for intraoperative or postoperative use were enrolled. We recorded electrocardiographic data throughout autologous blood donation to evaluate autonomic nervous activity by using spectral analysis of heart rate variability. First-time blood donors have a significantly higher incidence of vasovagal reaction (VVR). In the patient with VVR and first-time blood donors, autonomic nervous activity showed specific responses during autologous blood donation.
