Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2015, I worked on how the behavior of the robot and appearance could influence the perception of it. Our results suggest that, among the factors we chose to test, the attitude toward robots is the main influence on the perception of the robot related to the Uncanny valley. Robot occupation acceptability was affected only by Attractiveness, mitigating any Uncanny valley effect. We discuss the implications of these findings for the Uncanny valley and the acceptability of a robotic worker in our society.
I also worked on a low cost system using two RGB-D cameras to better understand social space interaction. Using developed software, we are able to easily collect, combine, visualize, modify, and analyze data. To validate the system, we measured human behavior in a walking experiment. The data obtained from the system showed an accurate measurement and validated our approach for Human Interaction analysis.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to other work priority, the project is a slightly delayed.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plan to analyze how the perception of the robot and its shown emotions can affect the expected work occupation of said robot.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to a change in my function , I got extremely busy with other important tasks. From next fiscal year , we will be able to resume our research.
|
Expenditure Plan for Carryover Budget |
The electronic material will be used to do other experiments to further our hypothesis. I plan to write one journal article and research papers based on these experiments and travel to present the research we performed.
