Outline of Final Research Achievements

To determine whether we should introduce reconciliation period after a commitment period of emissions reduction, we conducted an emissions trading experiment. We had two treatments: a treatment with reconciliation period and a treatment without reconciliation period.

We found that subjects in the treatment with reconciliation period are more likely to result in either over-compliance or non-compliance than those in the treatment without reconciliation period. We also found that total emissions reduction in the treatment with reconciliation period is more likely to be insufficient than in the treatment without reconciliation period.
