| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本年度はかねてからの計画通り、標準試料である表面酸化Fe(001)薄膜および、新奇スピンフィルタ候補物質であるビスマス単結晶薄膜について、実際に電子線を照射して電子線スピン反射率の測定を行った。表面酸化Fe(001)薄膜・ビスマス単結晶薄膜どちらの試料においても、反射電子線は明らかなスピン偏極を示した。この結果は、新奇スピンフィルタ候補物質の探索が高価・希少なスピン分解光電子分光装置を用いることなく簡便な手法で実現できることを示しており、研究申請当時の予想を裏付けるものであった。
一方、新奇スピンフィルタ候補物質の探索においては、アンチモン化インジウム基板上に成長させたビスマス超薄膜において、いくつかの特異な表面電子状態を発見した。特に１０原子層程度の厚膜では１次元的な電子状態が大きなスピン偏極を示しており、異方性を持つスピンフィルタ物質として今後の研究の進展が期待できる。
