Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have successfully established a novel recording system derived from highly integrated microcircuits by Intan Inc. These chips perform signal amplification and digitization, resulting in a direct digital data stream, which is far more resistant to noise interference than analog signals. It also allows to carry many signals over few wires through multiplexing. We have performed long-term EEG recordings with this system and have performed detailed EEG analysis on the resulting data. We have also successfully transfected mice with AAV for reporter proteins and for activating and inhibiting DREADDs. We are currently analyzing the results of EEG recordings in DREADD transfected animals under control conditions and under CNO injections.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The technical aspects of the project are progressing verz well. We do not have extensive data on DREADD transfected mice, but we are expecting that we can perform these experiments shortly.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are working on local field potential electrode implantations to increase the spatial resolution of our recordings. We will continue to work with AAV DREADD injections in different Cre mouse lines to study different neuronal populations and their contribution to slow wave activity.
