Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to establish new standard number system of computers and new computer architecture suitable for the system. As the results of the research from 1983 to 1985, " Data Length Independent Real Number Representation Based on DoubleExponential Cut II " by Hozumi Hamada received the Paper Prize 1983 from the Information Processing Society of Japan. Also the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) of Hitachi Ltd. prints the table of Hamada number URR on the cover of its introductory pamphlet where URR means ' Universal Representation of Real number' named by Hamada. The hardware which treats URR was made. It realize basic seven subroutines in the subroutine package by hardware and treats URR number very quickly. The important characteristics of URR is as follows: 1. URR can represent any small and any large number. 2. Over-flow and under-flow at the computation of URR number never occur. 3. The portability of URR numbers between different computers is very easy.
