Research Abstract |
The role of the information network systems is now growing rapidly as an infrastructure of the coming advanced information society. At the same time, the fragility of the network systems has also become one of the biggest problems, and the high security of the network has become very important as prerequisite responsibility to the network systems. There are several causes which threaten the network systems, such as extraordinary traffic originations, system failures, disasters, information criminals, and outrageous destructive actions. As the countermeasures, high security technology concerning reliability, availability, maintainability and information security will become more and more important. In order to realize high security information network systems, we have investigated and discussed concentrating to several topics such as design method of reliable telecommunication networks, extraordinary traffic handling, countermeasures to network system failures, security measures for information handling systems, and theory on encryptions. In order to execute the investigation effectively, we organized a technical group entitled "Research Group on High Security Information Networks", and held 11 times of meetings where 35 papers were presented in total. In these meetings, the following items were discussed and several instructive results have been obtained. The first is an investigation on technical trends concerning network security, reliability and their standardization. The second is a proposal of a certain encryption coding and its applications to the information network systems. The third is an investigation on design method concerning high reliable telecommunication networks, extraordinary traffic handling method, and network operation systems. The fourth is an investigation concerning the reliability design method of switching systems and information processing systems.
