Research Abstract |
Using high silicon-iron single crystals containing around 6.5wt.% silicon, the quenching temperature dependence of the saturation magnetization, the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant were measured. The saturation magnetization and the anisotropy constant of rhe crystals with 4.9-6.0wt.% silicon quenched into oil from 1,100 C showed decreases of up to 12 and 80%, respectively, compared to crystals cooled slowly from 1,100 C. The decreases in the saturation magnetizations and the anisotropy constants and the increases in the saturation magnetostriction constants for the quenched crystals were correlated with secreases in an order parameter calculated from x-ray measurements. More than ten single crystals of high silicon-iron alloys containing Ti with various compositions were grown. The hysteretic properties as well as anisotropy measurements were carried out. A couple of parameters of a Chua type model are necessary to calculate the field distribution of any kinds of magnetic devices, which exhibit the saturation and hysteresis.
