Research Abstract |
1) When rat anterior pituitary cells were cultured in the medium containing phospholipase <A_2> activators, multigranular exocytosis were found. 2) In the apical cytoplasm of the thyroid follicle epithelial cell, caldesmon and actin are demonstrated by immunocytochemistry. The thyroid cell activity for reabsorption of colloid, caldesmon and actin are considered to play a great role. 3) After the basal lamina is digested by collagenase and trypsin, and the organ is cultured in the medium containing high concentration of fetal calf serum, the cell polarity of each follicle is reversed. This mechanism is detected by electron microscopy and freeze fracture method. 4) Kupffer cells endocytosing numerous latex beads and India ink particles are gathered in the connective tissue and form granulomas. They stay there for a long time, perhaps for whole life of the animal. This is considered to be a special vital protecting reaction for non-toxic foreign materials. 5) Aromatase which is the enzyme necessary for synthesize estrogen from testosterone was demonstrated in the theca interna cells of the ovary.
