Research Abstract |
This study presents a trial of CAD applied to thinning of casting product. At first the theoretical equations of multi-gating are analytically derived from Bernoulli's theorem. And casting process into a mold of a simple shape is graphically expressed. Effect of casting speed, ratio of ingate, and etc. on casting process, is experimentally investigated using water and the metal melted at low temperature. The result shows that each simulation leads to noticeable error, compared with the analytical result. Next, in order to obtain a relation between a coefficient of vicosity and a rate of solid phase in mashy-state metal of Al-(0-15%)Si alloy, experiment is carried out using the measuring appratus manufactured specially. It shows that a coefficient of viscousity radically increases at a rate above 30% and reaches <infinite> at 80%. Considering that the rate of solid is under 30% in usual casting, it is clear that a coefficient of viscousity at 0-30% is necessary for theoretical analysis. By experiments in friction loss in a casting mold and loss caused by a variation in cross section, theoretical equation is modified. And rising process of surface in case of transe-verse flow in ununifom transverse cross section of a casting mold is researched theoretically and experimentally. In conclusion a design for the bottom-gate can lead to CAD system, but method incorporating of a change of temperature at a top of flow and molding resistence into the equation, is insufficient. Also a falling gate is not considered in this study, but needs to be investi-gate in future.
