Research Abstract |
5. The amount of oxygen radicals was measured and compared between macrophages from the nude rats and the littermates. The oxygen radicals were determined utilizing a luminol-mediated chemiluminescence. The amount was found approximately 10 times more in macrophages of the littermates, when stimulated with FMLP or viable trypomastigotes of T. cruzi. The velocity of production of oxygen radicals was also faster in the macrophages from the littermates. The similar data have been also obtained with Leishmania.
