Research Abstract |
1. OVARIAN TUMORS INDUCED BY DIRECT APPLICATION OF DMBA TO THE OVARY Direct application of DMBA to the ovary successfuly induces rat ovarian neoplasms. most of them are concomitant adenocarcinoma consisted of serous and endometrioid (occasionally with squamous metaplasia) type components. Biologic behavior of them are closely similar to human ovarian cancer, and the surface epithelial proliferations were observed in the early experimental period. The second is fibrosarcoma, although histogenic process remains to prove. The final type is also adenocarcinoma showing completely acinar structures. They develop in the hilar region without surface cell proliferation, suggesting the tumors are not the drivation of the surface cells. The incidence of the latter two type tumors are low(about 2%). 2. INTRASPLENIC TRANSPLANTATION OF GONADAL TISSUES Granulosa cell tumors develop from intrasplenic ovarian tissue, although most of them are benign, as reported. When DMBA-treated ovary was implanted, adenocarcinoma or malignant granulosa cell tumor with extrasplenic development and cellular pleomorphism was observed. Of interests, tumors from intrasplenic testis have Sertoli cell components and granulosa cell elements. 3. INDUCTION OF TERATOMA Teratoma in ddy mice received fetectopmy was compared with spontaneously occurred teratoma in LT mice. The histology similar to that of LT mouse teratoma, although extraembryonic tissues were completely lack in the tumor in ddy mice.
