| Research Abstract |
Results obtained from this project are follwing four.
1.Measurement of the electron temperature in pulsed discharge
We could estimate the electron temperature in pulsed discharge by Langmuir probes, and that dynamic probes. And we could know differences in temperature by pulse wave forms.
2. Improvement of the radiant efficiency in fluorescent lamps on the market We could improve the radiant efficiency, only lamp efficiency, in fluorescent lamps on the market about 30% by the pulsed discharge method. But the overall efficiency including circuits loss was scarecely improved.
3.Improvement by the composition and the pressure of rare gases enclosed in a lamp
The overall efficiency was scarecely improved for lamps on the market because of circuits loss. Accordingly we atempted to increase the lamp impedance and reformed compositions and pressures of rare gases. We got the best result and could improve the overall efficiency about 15%, when the pressure of pure Argon was 7 Torr.
4.Decreasing loss of lighting circuits
The best circuit was the so-called "push-pull circuit" using a small transformer with turn ratio 1:3.5 and voltage cotrolled DC suply.
