Research Abstract |
Dynamic response of suspended cables was studied both experimentally and theorectically. Wind tunnel experiments of cables of figure-8 section have been made and the galloping behaviour was carefully observed. An explanation on the cause of the galloping of this type of cable was also given. buffeting respones of UHV transmission cables were analytically studied by means random vibration theory and it is found that current design practice tends to oberestimate wind loading for multi-cable transmission system.
