Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to develop a computrr-aided fine grid method for welded structure. We already reported the fine grid method ehich is only method foe evaluating local strain distributions at high temperatures. We, however, found two major problems of this method. That is, in a manually operated system, this method can not give high accurate atrains and requires numerous data reduction times. These two problems prevent us to answer urgent requirements which come from a industrial world. These problems can be solved by introduction of a computer-aided system for measuring locations of fine grid centers. However, our accuracy goal(i.e., strain mesearement with an accuracy of 0.001) can not be reached by any image-processing system on the market because of the limitation of pixel number and distortion of optical system. In the system developed in this research which allowed us to reach our accuracy foal, TV camera and highly sensitive digital micro-meters are introduced as devices for image recording and determinations of fine grid centers, respectively. Every devices are controlled simultaneously by a computer. One more important improvement in this reseach is the development of micro-pattern for a fine grid method. This new pattern has regularly distributed fine dots( <phi> 5 <micro> m) and very useful to decrease time for data reduction. We applied the developed system to assess high temperature(727 k) deformation in a dissimilar metal welded joint.
