Research Abstract |
Our co-operative research group attempted to characterize several brain-specific proteins using recombinant DNA technique and to apply this technique for neurohistological study. We succeeded in cloning of genomic DNA for neuron-specific enolase, S-100 , cholecystokinin and carried out their gene expression in vitro and in vivo. In addition, we succeeded in cloning of cDNA for bovine and human 2',3'-cyclic nucleotide 3'-phosphodiesterase, 14-3-3 protein (tyrosine gydroxylase activator) and enolase and determined their nucleotide sequences. Furthermore, we determined the complete amino acid sequence fo bovine peripheral myelin PO protein. Fujita, one of our group members, applied cDNA of several proteins for examining intra-cellular localization of their mRNA using in situ gybridization.
