Research Abstract |
1.EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON HIGH ANGLES-OF-ATTACK. (1) VARIATION OF LIFT AS WELL AS MOMENT OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL WINGS DURING DYNAMIC STALL ARE OBSERVED WITH ASSOCIATED DEVELOPMENT OF SEPARATION. (2) SEPARATED FLOWS AROUND AXI-SYMMETRIC BOOIES AT HIGH ANGLES-OF-ATTACK HAVE BEEN OBSERVED EXTENSIVELY. (3) PRESSURE-AND HEATING-DISTRIBUTIONS ON SEVERAL AXI-SYMMETRIC BLUNT BOOEIS WITH SEPARATION IN SUPERSONIC FLOWS HAVE BEEN OBSERVED. 2. THEORETICAL CALCULATION OF HIGH ANGLES-OF-ATTACK CHARACTERISTICS. (1) EXTENSIVE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS ON SEPARATED FLOW AROUND TWO-DIMENSIONAL AIRFOILS, SEPARATION SUPPRESSION BY JETS, AND EFFECTS OF SLATS AND FLAPS ARE MADE USING NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS. NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF UNSTEADY FLOWS AROUND TWO-DIMENSIONAL AIRFOILS, DYNAMIC STALLS, SEPARATED FLOW AROUND AXI-SYMMETRIC BOOIES AT HIGH ANGLES-OF-ATTACK, AND TURBULENCE GENERATION WITHIN FREE SHAR LAYERS ARE ALSO MADE. (2) COMPUTER GRAPHICS AND SINGULARITY ANALYSIS ARE SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED TO VISUAL DISPLAY OF NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS OF NAVIER-STOKES EQUATIONS. (3) CLASSICAL AIRFOIL THEORIES ARE EXTENDED TO INCLUSE FLOW SEPARATIONS. (4) SEPARATED FLOW AROUND CIRCULAR AND SQUARE CYLINDERS, INCLUDING DEVELOPMENT OF TURBULENCE, ARE SIMULATED NUMERICALLY THROUGH DISCRETE VORTEX METHODS. 3. FLUID PHYSICL PHENOMENA ASSOCIATED WITH SEPARATION; CONTROLL OF SEPARATION. (1) TURBULENCE STRUCTURE WITHIN LAMINAR SEPARATION BUBBLES ON AIRFOILS IS MEASURED IN DETAIL. (3) INSTABILITY OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL MEMBRANE WINGS IS CLARIFIED. (3) UNSTEADY SEPARATED FLOWS AROUND TWO-DIMENSIONAL WINGS ARE OBTAINED WITHIN SHOCK TUBES, AND THE FLOWS ARE NUMERICALLY SIMULATED.
