Research Abstract |
Biosynthesis, metabolism, accumulation into particular tissues and physiological action of hemolymph protein, including vitellogenin, eggspecific protein, prophenoloxydase and bacteriocidal proteins, were studied. Action of insect hormones on the synthesis and activation of these proteins, and regulation of hormonal titer through hemolymph were also studied. In this research project, DNA sequences of a bacteriocidal protein in the fleshlfy and 30 KDa protein in silkworm gene were extensively studied. Fate of egg-specific protein in developing embryo of the silkworm was clarified. Role of ecdysone and other steroids on vitellogenesis was studied and suggestive data were obtained on the control mechanisms of ecdysone titer through hemolymph. I was found also that some kind of receptors of proteoglycan was involved in activation of prophenoloxidase which might play an important role on immune systems in insects.
