| Research Abstract |
The purpose of this work is to make clear the distribution of rolling contact fatigue life/wear of the specimens of thrust plates and balls made of bearing steel and of ceramics by using the contra-rotating test rigs which is desined by the author.
Then the analytical method for the 3-parameter Weibull distribution , considered a location parameter as a minimum life of the population , is developed and the estimation method for the rolling contact fatigue strength and reliability are established. Principal reults are as follows:
(1) All results of the life test series from 8 rots made of 800 bearing steel specimens are fairly conformed with the 3-parameter Weibull distribution.
(2) For the software of the Weibull analysis in combination with a microcomputer graphics , a 2-point estimation method in which a constant shape parameter m=10/9 and a method of least squares in which the sample standard deviation becomes least in relation with the convergence of the m value , are developed.
(3) In this term of the project , we can not find an effective method of the estimation for the wear life distribution and also we can not be carried out the life test of the ceramics specimens completely.
