Research Abstract |
Detailed characteristics of short- term fluctuations of the Kuroshio and its Coastal boundary region have been made clear. For this purpose, direct current measurement by use of moored current meters, ship drift of car ferries were applied, and fish catch data at coastal set-net were analyzed. Following results are obtained. The temperature and the current data in the coastal areas of the Kuroshio showed a clear 20 days periodicity almost the same as a period of the Kuroshio's small meander, whose wave length was about 200 km. Catchs yellow-tail in the Kumano-nada and sardine's larvae in the Eushu-nada fluctuated, obviously related to those oceanographic conditions.
