Research Abstract |
Recent years, many studies have brought greater understandings of the control of parturition in the laboratory animals. However, the endocrinological control mechanism on initiation of parturition in human has remained to be elucidated. In this project, the endocrinological studies have been done on the control of parturition in human. 1.Plasma prolactin levels were measured in 21 patients with severe toxemia of pregnancy and in 111 normal pregnant women. Correlations between prolactin concentration and the severity of renal function in toxemic patients, and preterm delivery were discussed. A part of the results was reported in " Prolactin in severe toxemia of pregnancy, Eur. J. Obstet. Gynecol. Reprod. Biol., 23: 25--30, 1986." [ See reference, next page ] 2." Effects of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate ( DHA-S ) to prolactin secretion and induction of labor in term pregnant women " was studied in 1986. Various hormones ( PRL, <E_2> -17 <beta> , <E_3> , DHA-S ) were measured in nine term pregnant women who were administered 100 mg of DHA-S intravenously, and in seven pregnant women as controls. The results will be reported in " Prolactin Conference " in Tokyo in October, 1987.
