Research Abstract |
The ultimate purpose of this research in the understanding for the redox reaction system consisting of iron porphyrin complexes which are relevant models for the biological hemoprotein system. The two-year study aided by this fund has involved the synthesis and isolation of various isomers of ortho-substituted arylporphyrin and the survey for the redox reaction system. The reports concerning the atropisomers of zinc porphyrin have been published as the part of this work (ref. 1-3) since the structural study has been successful on the crystal products. Experiments on those of the iron complexes also carried out and the study is now focusing to the the spectral changes on the coordination of various pyridines to Fe <(OEP)^+> . In this study, we observed the reduction reaction of Fe( <III> ) to Fe( <II> ) in the porphyrin when the ligand has the =CH-NH- group in the molecule, e.g. picolylamines. The more specific results on this study will be presented at the 107th meeting of the Pharm. Soc. Jpn..
